We recommend that at least one-half of the courses for your desired major be completed by the time you apply for admission and that you list the additional courses you are taking as “in-progress” on your application. However, all courses must be completed prior to your first term at UF. Please note that it is not necessary to have completed all of these courses at the link above in order to submit an application. So be sure that the major for which you apply is the major you wish to pursue to graduation. However, please be aware that junior transfer students are expected to pursue the major to which they are admitted. Therefore, we encourage you to consider other majors in CLAS if you are not competitive for your first choice major. However, sometimes an alternative major can also work well with your educational goals and career objectives. Certain majors (e.g., biology, chemistry, economics, and psychology) are especially competitive due to the large number of applications received for these majors. Meeting these criteria will typically make you a competitive applicant for admission. The information provided above indicates the minimum criteria needed to be considered for each CLAS major.

We expect to have most of our applications with complete credentials reviewed and decisions made by October 31, 2021. Keep in mind that your application has to be reviewed by both the Admissions Office and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and this process can take time as we do receive a large volume of applications this time of year. You can check the status of your application at any time. Please make sure you have a completed application checklist as well as submit your most recent grades as soon as they are available.

The next term for which we are making admission decisions is Spring 2022 for applications with complete files (including Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 grades if applicable). If your transfer institution does not have courses evaluated in Transferology, you may be required to provide course syllabi during your transfer application review process. If you are transferring from outside the SCNS, you can refer to Transferology ( ) to check course equivalencies that are already determined. (Please note that transfer students cannot apply directly to the Interdisciplinary Studies majors.) The course numbers listed above are UF course numbers and generally adhere to the Florida Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS) where if the prefix (first three letters) and the last three digits of the course number are the same, then the course is considered equivalent.
